"Discover Our Island Shores"

The MRC worked with local videographer and MRC technical advisor, Dr. Florian Graner with Sealife Productions, to develop the educational film "Discover Our Island Shores." Florian lives on Whidbey Island, holds a PhD in marine biology, and has filmed underwater species and habitats around the world. This film was developed specifically for Island County students and features footage of our islands, bringing relatable and engaging scenery and narrative to its viewers.

The MRC also collaborated with NOAA to offer a corresponding classroom activity to accompany the film and meets Next Generation Science Standards. The film and classroom activity are geared towards grades 3-6, but are enjoyable and educational for all audiences. Digital versions of the film and classroom activity are available to all Island County students, including homeschool and alternative school students.

Teachers/Parents: Please contact Kelly Zupich for the password to view this film online. In your email, include the grade(s) of the students you are sharing this with and the number of students in your classroom.

A limited supply of hard copies of the film (DVD or USB drive) and classroom activity (printed outline, flash cards) are available for classrooms.
